Care & Repair.

A Timi Lusi shoe is built to last decades. With the right care, the leather improves with age — developing a patina that tells the story of the man who wears it.

THE CARE ROUTINE

01
BRUSH

After each wear, use a soft horsehair brush to remove dust and dirt. Brush in the direction of the grain. This takes 30 seconds and extends the life of the leather significantly.

02
CLEAN

For deeper cleaning, use a damp cloth or leather cleaner to remove marks. Never use soap or harsh chemicals. Allow to dry naturally — never near direct heat or sunlight.

03
CONDITION

Once a month, apply a small amount of leather conditioner or cream polish with a cloth. Work it in gently and allow to absorb. This keeps the leather supple and prevents cracking.

04
POLISH

Use a wax polish matched to your leather colour for shine and protection. Apply in circular motions with a soft cloth, let dry, then buff to a shine with a clean brush or cloth.

STORAGE

USE SHOE TREES

Cedar shoe trees absorb moisture and hold the shape of the shoe between wears. Use them every time.

STORE IN DUST BAGS

Keep shoes in the dust bags provided when not wearing them. This protects the leather from light and dust.

AVOID PLASTIC BAGS

Never store leather in plastic — it traps moisture and causes mould. Always use breathable storage.

AVOID DIRECT SUNLIGHT

Prolonged exposure to sunlight fades colour and dries out the leather. Store in a cool, dry place.

PROTECTION

WATERPROOFING

Apply a leather waterproof spray before first wear and after each clean. Hold the can 20cm from the shoe and apply in even strokes. Allow to dry fully before wearing.

SUEDE CARE

Suede requires a dedicated suede brush and protector spray. Never use wax polish on suede. For stubborn marks use a suede eraser block — never water.

WET SHOES

If your shoes get wet, stuff with newspaper and allow to dry naturally at room temperature. Insert shoe trees once dry. Never use a hairdryer or radiator.

WHEN TO RESOLE

SIGNS IT IS TIME
  • ·The heel is worn down more than 3mm
  • ·The sole feels thin underfoot
  • ·You can feel the ground through the sole
  • ·The welt stitching is beginning to separate
RESOLE LIFESPAN

With regular wear, a leather sole typically needs resoling every 1–2 years. A Timi Lusi shoe can be resoled multiple times — the upper leather is built to outlast the soles many times over.

WHERE TO RESOLE

We recommend taking your shoes to a reputable cobbler who works with welted construction. In Toronto, we can recommend trusted cobblers on request. Contact us for a referral.
